CUPW releases research study on loss of home mail delivery

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers  has released a comprehensive paper that  discusses the economic, social and political implications of Canada Post Corporation’s (CPC’s) decision to replace residential mail delivery with community mailboxes (CMBs.) The study examined CPCs recent economic performance and the economic rationale it provided to justify the change in delivery mode. It also examined the effects of the change on seniors and people with disabilities as well as the implications for Canada’s health care system. The paper was written by Geoff Bickerton and Katherine Steinhoff, for the 23rd Conference on Postal and Delivery Economics June 3-6, 2015, Vouliagmeni, Athens, Greece.
