Here are some early reactions to Bill C-32, the Copyright Modernization Act . . .
Appropriation Art Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) Business Coalition for Balanced Copyright Canadian Coalition for Electronic Rights Canadian Library Association (CLA)
Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) Canadian Federation of Students (CFS) [member advisory] Canadian Alliance of Student Associations (CASA) Consumers Council of Canada Documentary Organization of Canada Green Party of Canada NDP Unhappy with the expansion of fair-dealing, Access Copyright and the Writers Union of Canada have issued a strong denouncements of the bill, but the Canadian Entertainment Software Association and the Canadian Recording Industry Association have given it strong praise. Also in contrast to Access Copyright, SOCAN has issued a generally positive statement, subject to further detailed analysis.The Canadian Private Copying Collective has criticized the bill for failing to extend the private copying levy to digital audio devices such as MP3s.
